Pichwai Lumba Set by Scrapshala is a pair of two wooden lumbas, representing love, feminism and freedom, a representation of relationship you share with your sisters.
Originated as a Rajasthani custom, a Lumba stands for a 'bangle'.
On Rakshabandhan, it is a customary tradition amongst the Marwari families, wherein women tie a Lumba rakhi on their sister-in-law's bangle. It marks a bond of well-being and friendship!
Each lumba rakhi at Scrapshala is handpainted by local artisans of Varanasi and takes several hours of sitting in one posture.
These rakhis are handcrafted from reclaimed mango wood and can be repurposed into keychains, luggage tags or fridge magnets after their primary use.
After use, remove the cotton thread of the rakhi and insert the key loop from the rakhi tag, in the same hole from where the thread was removed to make it a keychain.
