Bhimal (Grewia optiva) is a common tree found in the lower Himalayas, usually used as cattle fodder by the locals, the soft twigs of this tree are collected and woven into ropes (resembling jute ropes) usually the local women which are in turn converted into baskets, mats, bags etc. These coasters are specially handmade from twigs to products by women in Rishikesh under the Gramotthan Sanstha that aims to provide financial freedom to the local women.
